Happy New Years!

This is being posted one hour after New Years, Happy New Year everybody!!!!

We spend the entire time down in our newly refurbished basement playing our new WII!!!!!!!
Thats right, our family officially has it's second console, we go for sixteen years using only PCs, and then in one Christmas we get both a PS2 and a Wii! Guitar Hero 80s Rock FTW!!!

So far we have a bunch of games for the PS2, namely Guitar Hero, Vitrtual Fighter IV, and Rygar.

For the Wii, we have a hunting game which we have yet to try, the usual Wii sport pack, and Wii Resort pack as well. We (no pun intended) also have a racing game, Star Wars lightsaber duels (meh) and Monkeyball!

Funfunfun! So far I win 2/3 of the games I play, unless it is bowling, which I am good as, but my sister is INCREDIBLE at. She gets strikes 9/10 of the time!

The Resort Swordplay game is great and hilarious to watch: "Hah! take that!" "Watch out, you almost hit me there!" "What? I am trying to hit you!" "With the controller you dork!" WHAP! "HaHA!" "No fair, I was looking away!" "Well it's yer fault for-" WHACK!

*Evil chuckiling*

The Archery is the coolest though, You use the Nunchuk to pull back the arrow, and hold the Wii like a bow, so it is soo realistic.

This probably sounds stupid to anyone reading it, so just take my word for it, words cannot express how cool this thing is!

Merry Christmas Eve!

So I just finished playing Apples to Apples with my family, not my favorite game, due to the fact that it is rather random, but still fun due to to the fact I ate so many M&Ms I feel sick=D
On the whole, today has been pretty good, got some presents finished (including one for Gracie's family, Muhahahaha!) and practiced my engraving for the first time in a loooong while, trying to make a little copper ring with crosshatching on it...going OK so far.
Now trying to learn The Boys of Malin on my Pennywhistle (A six holed end blown fipple flute for those who do now know the instrument, try saying that five times fast!) Also known as Tin Whistle, Irish Whistle, or just plain Whistle. I hope to post vids of me playing eventually, but that depends on what my parents think of the matter.

I know I promised pictures of snow, but my parents have been a little more protective of me lately in regard to the internet, so that may not come to pass either....grrrr......

MERRY ONE-HOUR TAE CHRISTMAS YE LADS AND LASSIES! ALBA GO BRAGH!

Awards

I would like to thanks Kendra for the following two awards, I have seen them floating around, and hoped I might get them, as they fit my blog quite well!

We are now up to 10" folks, that is the most we have had for the past TEN YEARS!
Global Warming my eye! Last year was a new record as well, although it took place in JANUARY, this is BEFORE CHRISTMAS!

So, after reading an article recently (Going Cheney on Climate Debate) I had the misfortune to be given a paper to write in response to what I view as little more than a Liberal Rant. (Note the capital letters, this designates the article as a class 2 Political Phenomenon on the Einar scale, just slightly above Obama getting a dog rather than a cat, which is a 1.)
In the article the writer, a very opinionated journalist by the name of Thomas Friedman, claims that we should give the same degree of attention and recourses to Global Warming (A 3 on the Einar scale) as we would Pakistan Getting Nukes (A 10.)
This comparison is made using  a Declaration that Dick Cheney Made (2) “If there’s a 1% chance that Pakistani scientists are helping Al Qaeda build or develop a nuclear weapon, we have to treat it as a certainty in terms of our response.”
Thomas claims that since Global Warming has far more dire consequences than Pakistan Getting Nukes, such as the Death of Polar Bears (0.5), it should be given just as much attention. Hidden within this argument are subtle suggestions that is should get more attention, since there is undeniably more than a 1% percent change that is will (is) happening. In fact, the few bits of data that were not proved false by the Climategate Scandal (7) were recently seen to correspond to the weather phenomenon El Niño.

The one bit I found truly interesting was a clever attempt to dismiss Climategate as nothing more than a few scientists a little data, nothing particularily important.

“Climategate was triggered on Nov. 17 when an unidentified person hacked into the e-mails and data files of the University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit, one of the leading climate science centers in the world — and then posted them on the Internet. In a few instances, they revealed some leading climatologists seemingly massaging data to show more global warming and excluding contradictory research.
Frankly, I found it very disappointing to read a leading climate scientist writing that he used a “trick” to “hide” a putative decline in temperatures or was keeping contradictory research from getting a proper hearing. Yes, the climate-denier community, funded by big oil, has published all sorts of bogus science for years — and the world never made a fuss. That, though, is no excuse for serious climatologists not adhering to the highest scientific standards at all times.
That said, be serious: The evidence that our planet, since the Industrial Revolution, has been on a broad warming trend outside the normal variation patterns — with periodic micro-cooling phases — has been documented by a variety of independent research centers.”

Wrong.

The scientists did not “massage” data, they created it. These “priests” of the Global Warming Religion (3.5) ran out of misinterpret-able evidence with which to confuse people, so they created their own.
In the rest of the article, Mr. Thomas went right back to the Global Warming Mantra (3) of “Evil Co2!” No logic, no consideration that perhaps there are more e-mails we didn’t find, and no acceptance that perhaps he has been fed a bunch of lies.

Pipes

ARRRRRGGGGG!!!!

I just realized that the sort of bagpipes I have been wanting to learn to play is not the Great Highland Pipes as I first assumed, but the Irish Ulian Pipes.

Highland Pipes have the same range as a recorder, are very loud, and are played standing.
Ulian Pipes are quieter, and have nearly twice the rang of GHB, enough to play something other than marching tunes. They ARE played sitting down, but use a bellows, rather than a blowpipe, thus allowing one to play without growing a second set of lung muscles.

I already have a practice chanter for the GHB which will be going up on e-bay soon, hopefully the money will be a good start to my practice ulian set.

Botheration!

CLOAKS!

The excellent Gracie recently sent me a picture of when she accompanied me and some friends to the Ren Fest last year (08) since it has a picture of the (old) cloak, I am posting it here until I can get some more recent pictures of my costume. Sword not yet included, but on the way as soon as I get the $190.

I made this thing from the heaviest material I could find, it is water resistant, and so functions as a poncho when needed. Also, it is so heavy that I occasionally go mad when wearing it and begin screaming about giant squids, carpet monsters, and bread dough.

Stickers!

So, first we have the Nemesis stickers, for anyone who has caused me to add a rule to the little spiel at the top of the blog, if you are mentioned there, you may take a sticker. (I guess you could take one anyway, but it would be stinkerish of you!)

Next we have the ALL NEW Friend of Critters! stickers, one for each of my favorite critters. You may have one if you have at any point (Now or in the future) complemented my critters. (Again, you could take one anyway, but then it might bite you, not being your friend and all.)

Enjoy!
Cloak pictures soon, sorry it has taken so long!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that if ya'll want to pass these pictures on, feel freed. They are meant to be shared. Personally I hope to see Nemesis stickers EVERYWHERE:)

I also wanted to specifically award a Nemesis stickers to Death the Criftonite, and a Friend of Critters sticker to Bethany, even if her critters are fuzzier than mine.

Do you believe the Bible is the literal Word of God and is infallible? YES

What's your favorite sport? Uh, traditional or non-traditional? I like playing softball with friends every now and then, but I really prefer swordfighting, archery and hunting. Capture the Flag is fun too.

Are you a people person? Meh, people are overrated

Do you like to talk? Uh.....yes (Gonna get joshed about this one)

Favorite flowers? Foxglove, Snowdrop, and Chamomile

What is the expression on your face? Thoughtfull and somber, very handsome I am sure...

Color of your eyes? A VERY bright blue, I am told, like, not sky blue or robin's egg, but like sapphires, crystals.

Who are you going to tag and why? Gracie, because she reads my blog more than anyone

Ren Fest

ALERT! I just found out we may be going to the ren fest after all, so the photos are in limbo for now.

Der Ranch

Typing this from the ranch, where we are about to BBQ some chicken and turkey.
Found out for sure today we will not be going to the Ren Fest this year, so I am gonna just take the pictures of my cloak at home (the old ones were lost, and I wanted to take some new ones at the Ren Fest.)

Bronc finished the cattle fence yesterday, so the arena is nearly ready for roping, we just need a pen, a roof for the boxes, and some calves.

And I am piggybacking on some unknown neighbor's Wi-Fi, I just hope he doe not find out and cut off the-

Harvastmath Party

So I had a LOT of fun, won the peep noshing contest ($10 iTunes card!) and got all three of my bean bags in the bucket, netting me a nice little bag of candy... My costume didn't win though, I got beat by an AWESOME homemade granny costume. Totally glad the little girl won, she looked perfect.

Ok: peep noshing (marshmallow peeps Gracie, no fainting!). They had this rope tied to the celing, which was attached to a loop of bungee cord. You had to put the loop of bungee around your head and under your nose, and then stretch it forward to where a tasty little peep awaited you, hanging from a string.
Everyone else keep tilting their head back to get the peep and the bungee cord would go FWAP up into the celing. I watched em do it and figured out that you have to get so worked up that you keep your head down and just use brute strength to pull farther.
By my turn, I was frothing at the mouth a little, grabbed that bungee, and started for the peep...almost got it...
AND THE GUY GRABBED THE STRING AND HELD IT WHERE HE THOUGHT I COULDN'T REACH IT!

GRRRRRROOOOWRRRRRR!

I let out a feral roar and charged forward, holding the bungee with my nose, tore into the peep and bit it in half, then I bit the string and sucked it into my mouth till the other half of the peep was inside....nummy.
I got some funny looks afterwards from the girls, bows and groveling from the guys, but hey, you do what you have to!

The bean bag thing was easy, I play boche ball and cornhole, so I am used to putting things where I want them.

Found out that the 28th was the DEADLINE for the essay, so I won't know for a while yet whether I won or not....grrr *foams a little*

Pics of my Ren fest costume coming up...just need to get them off the camera.

Oh, and I have switched to Firefox now, thanks for the advice Bethany, you are right, I will never go back to IE again!

Bleh

Bleh, feeling rather awfull today, not sick so much as just....bleh...tired.
Any prayers would be appreciated, this nasty little Bleh bug seems to be going around our family, hope it stops eventually.

Reasons to Compliment Me

I can't believe Gracie thinks this is clogging but here goes.

1: I know where SHE lives, and I have ninja friends, including Chuck Norris, who is actually a double agent trying to gain Gracie's trust...oops....

1: Uh, I mean 2: I can play a musical instrument, 'nuff said

3: I let people beat me in capture the flag, cause I'm so NICE:)

4: It's my blog

5: I have a trenchcoat, fear me

6: I, as Grandpa Joe, can look like Bozo the clown (rest in peace Bozo!) and still thrive due to the fact that I have seen and done everything....twice...and I will NEVER buy that T-shirt (Just checking for Terry Pratchet fans)

7: Because I have a windows 7 *manical laughter* upgrade. And my new antivirus has Giggling Zombie Hun repellant

8: I do not mind being humiliated, I am like rubber, I bounce back

9: I give people a false sense of security by letting them think they can run rampant on my blog without being attacked by my creeters.......

10: I can perform a small-start butterfly/half butterfly/ butterfly/ spanish flat/ flatspin/ wedding ring/ flatspin/ butterfly/spanish flat/ ocean wave/ combo with me trusty rope and then throw a slick with the ocean wave, 50% of the time.

11: I wear knee high socks TOO!

12: I had two more things on my list than Gracie;P

Nemisis

Well, it appears that Gracie will not be posting a prompt on Pen-Wielders, but after I went through all the trouble to make an epic nemesis sticker I can hardly stand to let it go to waste.

SOOOOOoooo.....

From now on, anyone who causes me to make a rule I have not already stated gets a Nemesis Sticker.

You can pick from the three below.

I am working on a Friend of Critters Sticker for Gabby and anyone else who compliments me pets.

One Factor Contest

So I finally finished my essay for the One Factor contest our church is having, just need to go over it a few times to check for wordieness and then off it goes to Treasures Ministry.

Reward if they like it: $1000

O.O

Personally, I hope they like it, $900 could turn into a much larger ammount if invested properly.

Pray Ya'll, this could be really good...

Followers Say off to a slow start!

Well, so far I only have two comments (three if you count my reply) on my followers say post, Alex, as usual, is getting the most attention. I wonder if he is just trolling, picking a hot issue and then refusing to debate would certainly qualify.
I am a little frustrated, Christopher either didn't read my post or is just ignoring what he read, he skipped the question I could and did address (does God SEND people to Hell?) and instead brought up something else. Grrr.... read what I wrote!
Just finished going through the Dungeons of Ivellon Mod I added to my Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion game a while back. Wonderful atmospherics, I still have goose bumps. (Kudos to anyone who has played Oblivion)

Hmmmmm.... Going to Church tomorrow, can't wait to hear what our mentally unstable (and dad-to-be) youth pastor has to say.

Regarding Monday with a slight dread, my rear is beginning to permanently ache from my 4 hour writing sessions.

Ya'll quite bugging me to post more often! Can't you see I have nothing to say?

Beware!

Beware Traveler, this is the Lair of the Einar, a place where dangerous ideas are expressed with twice the required amount of words.
Comment at your own risk, be be warned that you may be covered in a deluge of well written but wordy replies.
I will not beat around the bush, this is a blog for me to post about whatever I feel like posting about, whenever I feel like it. Do not expect anything, I may go a month without posting, and then riddle you with every detail for the next week. You will never know till you read it.
And Einar is pronounced E-in-are
